The Scarpelli's

Yesterday I accidentally left the back door open and Meeko got out (he's exclusively an indoor cat). After searching for about a half hour I heard Talia screaming from the front yard. Meeko was fighting with the neighbor's cat. Without thinking, I tried to pick him up after shooing the other cat away. Not a smart thing to do to a cat trying to defend his turf. How could this sweet little pussycat become so psychotic? He tore open my knuckles with his teeth and then ran in to the neighbor's yard. By this time I had come to my senses and got a pair of leather gardening gloves from the garage (although they were not really good enough to protect from his teeth). Eventually I managed to get him calmed down enough to pick him up and get him into our house.

So.....today my hands are almost too swollen to type. Got a shot of antibiotics at the walk-in clinic, plus a prescription for the next 10 days. I'll know if it's working after 24 hours. So far the swelling has not gone down. Live and learn......

Meeko and I have made up and are now friends again!
